When it comes to coats and jackets there are so many options to choose from. It can be a daunting task to find a coat that is the perfect length, color, and fit for you. While you want to watch out for the style and fit of the coat or jacket you are purchasing, you also have to think about what type of weather you are buying for.
If you live in a cold climate you won’t want to wear a thin coat, you will want to stick to materials such as faux fur and fleece. If you are in warmer climates, but still want to purchase a jacket for the cooler months, stick to materials such as linen and cotton, as they are breathable and lightweight.
There are so many places to buy jackets. If you are looking for more affordable jackets that won’t break the bank, check out some of the options listed. Brands such as Pretty Little Thing, Lucky Brand, Target, and Madewell are great for young females who want to look great while saving more money.
When it comes to dressing for this season, your jacket choice is to make or break the decision. Summer may offer us shorts, sandals, and sundresses, but nothing beats fall fashion. While there are plenty of switches you need to make to transition from summer into the colder seasons— from booties to scarves and more— the perfect jacket should be at the front of your list. It is time to (sadly) kiss summer goodbye and embrace the months to come. Goodbye bikinis, hello cute coats and pumpkin spice EVERYTHING!
1. Bold Animal Print
Truth be told, I have not always been the biggest fan of animal print. Growing up, I was always told animal prints are super tacky— think, Victoria Beckham leather zebra print dress with a hot pink bra, circa 2007 MTV Movie Awards (sorry girl, but NO).
However, Fran from “The Nanny” taught me animal print can be chic and classy. In the last few years, animal print can be seen on the runwear and in the streets, too. Believe me when I say the right animal print can absolutely be neutral, that you need in your closet.

2. Plaid Jackets That Don’t Make You Look Like a Lumberjack
Plaid may seem like a thing of the past, but it is alive now more than ever. One thing I have always loved is plaid. It may seem like an outdoorsy style, but it has quickly turned into a must-have for all lovers of street style. As an owner of many plaid items, I love that the pattern may seem bold, but can actually be quite simple. It can also turn any outfit from drab to fab in the matter of one item. If you like simplicity in your outfits, and something that you can throw on to put a look together, plaid is for you.

3. Bright Colored Puffer Jacket
Anyone who knew me growing up knew how much I used to love dressing up. In high school, I was always the one that was overdressed at basketball and football games. While other girls my age wore leggings, I always wanted to put together fun outfits. As I got older, especially while in college, I grew to appreciate activewear.
As someone who essentially lives her life in the gym or at home, you can always catch me in leggings and a puffer jacket. My days of fancy outfits may be long gone, especially because of the global pandemic, but I still have a great love for nice coats and jackets.

4. Leather Jackets You’ll Never Want to Take Off
Some girls like shoes, some girls like handbags and if you are like me, you absolutely adore jackets (and shoes and handbags). One task that has been hard for me is finding quality jackets. As I transition from my college clothes to “adulthood,” I am trying to stay away from places like Forever 21 and move into more quality brands. Unfortunately, premium clothing can also come at a price. Here is a list of quality leather jackets that will last you forever.
